State of the Library Update

(The following is a presentation made to the Acton Board of Selectmen on Monday, October 20, 2008, for an update on the state of the library.)
The Acton Memorial Library Board of Trustees is a body composed of three elected trustees and six corporate trustees. It meets monthly and carries the responsibilities of setting policies and overseeing library operations. .

The economic news continues to be dire, with stock market turmoil, major layoffs announced daily, and State budget cuts announced and more to come. As bad as the news has been, many are predicting that worse news is coming as companies face significant earnings declines.

What A Waste! Exchange Hall Eyesore Gets CPA Funding

Last April, Town Meeting approved Community Preservation Act (CPA) funding of $250,000 to provide exterior renovations for Exchange Hall, a South Acton landmark that has fallen into disrepair.
