Following the retirement of Don Johnson last June, the Board of Selectmen appointed a committee to screen applicants for the position of Acton town manager and to recommend finalists to be considered by the selectmen. The committee has completed this process and has recommended the following four candidates (listed in alphabetical order) :
Stephen Delaney -- Town Administrator, Georgetown MA
Steven Ledoux -- Town Manager, Westford MA
Andrew Maylor -- Town Administrator, Swampscott MA
John Murray -- Temporary Town Manager, Acton
The selection process now becomes public. The Board of Selectmen reviews the candidates'
qualifications, conducts appropriate background checks, interviews the candidates in public meetings,
makes their choice and negotiates an employment contract with Acton's next town manager. Acton residents
can contact the Board of Selectmen directly with any questions or suggestions and/or attend their public
meetings. Selectman Hunter writes :
"It is expected that the Board of Selectmen will spend about the first hour of their regular bi-weekly meeting next Monday
evening, 5 November, determining the process that the Board will follow in order to choose and employ the successful
candidate as Acton's new Town Manager. It is anticipated, but not yet decided, that this will involve candidate interviews,
probably done in special BOS sessions in order to concentrate on that important task, as well as other appropriate inquiries."
To confirm that the selectmen will include the selection of the next town manager on their agenda, it is always a good idea to check the town web site 'Docushare' :
