The Acton- Boxboro Farmers Market is a great place for a stroll on a Sunday morning to catch a light breakfast and to buy produce picked earlier that morning. Local farms bring fresh produce, fresh baked goods, preserves, local products, and much more. It opens each Sunday from 10AM to 1PM on Pearl Street in West Acton.
Breakfast for us was a fresh baked scone from The Biscuit, which offers fresh-baked breads and pastries free of preservatives, chemical colorings, and partially hydrogenated oils or fats. Everything at The Biscuit is baked fresh daily!
In the next booth, the Bagel Alley offered every variety of fresh bagels I thought I had ever tried, and then a few more, toasted and loaded with cream cheese. Best Friends Cocoa offered fresh ground cocoa to complement the baked goods.
The farmers market is a great place to bump into friends to spend a few minutes catching up. Various entertainers provide background music to add to the pleasant surroundings.
We tend to get there early, right at opening. We found one farm unpacking locally grown corn picked at 7:00 AM that morning. We bought some for later in the day which made for a really terrific lunch.
Produce is the main attraction of the Farmers Market, featuring locally grown produce from sustainable farms using sustainable practices. Farms are listed below in alphabetical order to give you some idea of the large variety of items. More detail is available at http://abfarmersmarket.org/
In addition to produce, the farmers market hosts booths with baked goods, preserves, local artists, granola, herbs, flowers, and much, much more.
The Acton - Boxboro Farmer’s Market is the inspiration of Jennifer Taylor of Acton who coordinated the tons of work necessary to put this together. She had the help of a team of volunteers who can be seen there each Sunday morning. They all deserve a lot of credit for a job well done, and for a great addition to the Acton community.

Applefield Farm specializes in a variety of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and flowers.
Corn Flower Farm, out of Townsend, offers assorted vegetables, herbs, flowers, chicken and duck eggs, and homemade dog biscuits.
The Flats Mentor Farm in Lancaster, Massachusetts is a hands-on training and mentoring farm for small, beginning farmers of diverse ethnic backgrounds. They grow mainly Asian vegetables.
Foxbarn Farm specializes in fresh-picked garden vegetables. Located in Carlisle, MA, Foxbarn Farm has been active in Middlesex County farmers markets since 2004.
Hilltop Farm is a small, 10-acre farm located in Lunenburg grows a wide variety of vegetables and specialty salad greens using sustainable farming practices. Owner Martha McDonald is especially proud of her fresh eggs collected each morning, but you have to get there at 10AM sharp or they are sold out.
Monadnock Berries / Hill Orchard offers fruit, including apricots, currants, gooseberries, plums, nectarines, peaches, pears, apples, raspberries, and blueberries.
Nagog Hill Orchard offers seasonal fruits, including peaches, apples, raspberries, and currants.
Stillmans Farm is are a small, artisan family farm, dedicated to producing conscien-tiously raised, grass-fed and pastured, chemical-free meats, poultry, and eggs.

Artisans Janet Armstrong and Belle Choate bring original watercolors, oils, and photography.
Debrah’s kitchen: jams and preserves are made from two-thirds fruit, all natural sugar, and no preservatives.
Gardens for Life designs organic landscapes that attract butterflies and birds. We specialize in rain gardens that use runoff to grow beautiful native plants.
Golden Girl Granola makes crunchy, homemade granola, using the finest fresh ingredients, in several tantalizing flavors.
Hames Axel Farm/Surfing Goat Soap makes goat milk soaps which have long been valued for their gentleness and hydration. Nigerian dwarf goat milk is extra high in fats and protein, making for a luxurious bath experience.
Ladybug Farm offers cut herbs, cut-flower bouquets, jams, herbal vinegars, veggies as available, and an assortment of handmade items.
LemonThyme Farm, located in Hanson, MA, is a specialty provider of local, renewable, and sustainable agricultural products. A wide assortment of fruit preserves and jams, fruit toppings, pie fillings, local honey, hand-poured beeswax candles, maple syrup, baking mixes, and handcrafted goat milk soap will be available.
Rob’s Gardens offers a great variety of hard-to-find perennials. We have collections of sun and shade perennials and many New England wildflowers. All perennials are field grown,,grown locally, and are guaranteed hardy in this region
Silvermine Farm grows strawberries, vegetables, pumpkins, chickens, turkeys, and a few geese.
Thoreau Foods is a Certified Organic food producer who offers delicious and nutritious Muesli in cardamom, ginger, and vanilla flavors, as well as unbaked or “raw” granola, chia seed, and flax crackers.
